# Western Cape Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism MEC Ivan Meyer outlined a four-point emergency response plan to improve efficiency at the port of Cape Town. It was ranked the worst among 400 global ports in the World Bank’s 2025 Container Port Performance Index. The plan includes congestion management and mitigation of operational disruptions. Meyer says the harbour nonetheless reported a 33-percent improvement in vessel turnaround times, showing early signs of progress:
