# Award-winning British actress Cynthia Erivo is honored to play the character of South African legend Miriam Makeba in the upcoming musical drama The Road Home. Erivo described it as a huge responsibility and hopes to do justice to Makeba’s legacy. The 300-million-rand production will be filmed in Cape Town. The production will explore the role of music in South Africa’s liberation struggle, alongside figures like renowned trumpeter Hugh Masekela, played by Thabo Rametsi. The film, directed by Bill Condon, is expected to begin filming in June 2026.
