# Indian explosives manufacturer Solar Industries has agreed to pay 21-point-8-billion rand in cash to acquire South African agriculture and mining group Omnia Holdings. Omnia says the deal will help the company grow its mining and agriculture businesses by allowing it to invest more in technology, research and new products. It is also expected to strengthen Omnia’s manufacturing and supply networks, while giving the company greater access to markets and customers. Omnia is a leading regional producer and supplier of nitrogen-based fertilisers and mining explosives in Africa.
