# University of the Western Cape’s professor, Premesh Lalu, has been awarded the British Academy/NRF UK-SA Bilateral Digital Humanities Chair in Culture and Technics. This is a prestigious research position jointly funded by the British Academy and South Africa’s National Research Foundation. Professor Lalu’s research will explore how humans and technology have evolved together, particularly in the context of South Africa’s history of apartheid. Over the past six years of the NRF flagship programme, close to 300 Doctoral/Master’s and post-doctoral fellows have been supported.
