# A new tuberculosis research project led by Stellenbosch University is developing an AI-powered diagnostic tool, combining chest X-ray analysis with a simple fingertip blood test. The AddiCAD project aims to improve TB detection, particularly in resource-limited communities, by reducing false-positive results while maintaining accuracy. Researchers say the innovation could speed up diagnosis and treatment for thousands of patients. Clinical trials involving about one-thousand adults will take place in South Africa, Namibia and The Gambia over the next three years.
