Presidency says Chery International’s acquisition of Nissan’s Rosslyn manufacturing plant supports job creation

# Deputy president Paul Mashatile will deliver a keynote address at the Chery International Factory acquisition celebration in Tshwane today. This follows the Competition Tribunal’s approval of Chery International’s acquisition of Nissan South Africa’s vehicle manufacturing plant in Rosslyn, Gauteng. The transaction paves the way for Chery to begin manufacturing vehicles in the country for the first time, following Nissan’s decision to exit vehicle manufacturing there. The Presidency says the acquisition by Chery International represents a significant transition in ownership and also supports economic growth, job creation, and localisation.
