# Smoky haze caused by forest fires in Indonesia had led to several schools in neighbouring Malaysia being closed for today. Education minister Fadhlina Sidek made the announcement on social media after 37 areas recorded unhealthy air pollution levels. Prime minister Anwar Ibrahim says Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto had agreed to take the necessary steps to combat the haze while Malaysia was ready to offer assistance. He also wants a meeting of Southeast Asian bloc ASEAN ministers to coordinate a regional response.
