# Eskom states that through e-mobility, it is reducing carbon emissions and ensuring that every community benefits from the transition to sustainable transport. The power utility has launched the first 20 electric vehicles into its fleet. The United Nations estimates that by achieving a 60-percent share of battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles on the road, more than 60-billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions could be saved by 2050. Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says they are accelerating the country’s green future:
