# President Cyril Ramaphosa has paid tribute to former Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, saying he led the nation as a patriot and a champion. The 82-year-old, who led Africa’s most populous country between 2015 and 2023, died in London yesterday. Ramaphosa says he had the privilege of working closely with Buhari on building relations between the two countries, and sharing numerous reciprocal visits, including during the Covid-19 pandemic. He adds that Buhari’s leadership brought the two nations closer together.
