# Eskom CEO Dan Marokane says they are seeking to integrate cleaner generation into its coal-heavy mix and reduce its overall emissions by 40-percent. The power utility currently has a five-gigawatt pipeline of projects at various stages of development on the sites of six coal power stations. This includes the Komati Power Station in Mpumalanga, where 122-megawatts of solar photovoltaic and 150-megawatts of battery storage are under development. Marokane says they are also assessing various technologies to help their existing coal stations, which are currently operating under an exemption.
