# Olympic Games: Hundreds of Olympians called on the seven candidates in this week’s election of a new president of the International Olympic Committee to focus on the climate when taking over. Over 400 athletes from nearly 90 countries signed an open letter in which the IOC is asked for action on climate change. They say rising temperatures and extreme weather are already disrupting competition schedules. The candidates include former Zimbabwean Olympic swimming champion Kirsty Coventry and the president of World Athletics, Seb Coe from England.
