# India and the Southern African Customs Union have signed the terms of reference to launch negotiations on a preferential trade agreement. SACU comprises South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Eswatini. The talks will cover trade in goods and market access, rules of origin, customs procedures, trade facilitation, trade remedies, sanitary measures, technical barriers and dispute settlement. The agreement revives negotiations that stalled between 2002 and 2010. The pact aims to expand market access, boost exports and strengthen economic growth across both regions.
