Environment sector opens doors for young South Africans

# The Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment says the environmental sector is creating thousands of opportunities for young South Africans. More than five-thousand environmental graduates have gained work placements, while over 24-thousand-500 work opportunities were created in the first quarter of 2026/27, with young people accounting for 81-percent. Deputy minister Narend Singh says opportunities span conservation, waste management, climate innovation, forestry and the oceans economy. He urges young people to consider careers in the growing green economy and environmental sector.
