# The World Bank and Google announced a partnership to roll out artificial intelligence-powered, open-source digital systems, including ID, payments, and data exchange, to reach up to 25 countries and 100-million people over five years. The announcement was made at the Global Digital Public Infrastructure summit in Cape Town. Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy at Google South Africa, Abongile Mashele, says digital public infrastructure is a movement to build gateways that allow every single citizen to participate in the economy and society at large.
