UP strengthens its international standing

# The University of Pretoria has strengthened its international standing, after placing 63rd worldwide in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, and securing seventh spot globally for Sustainable Development Goal 17. The rankings measure actions taken by higher education institutions towards achieving the United Nations’ 17 SDGs. This year, only three African universities were ranked in the top 100, including UP. Vice-Chancellor and Principal, professor Francis Petersen, says the rankings reflect the university’s long-standing focus on driving positive societal impact through transformative education, innovation, and research.
