UK plastic waste exports to developing countries up by 84% in 2025

# Britain’s exports of plastic waste to developing countries soared by 84-percent in the first half of this year compared with last year. This is according to data from the Last Beach Cleanup. The increase in exports was mainly to Indonesia and Malaysia. The percentage of UK plastic waste going directly to countries not within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development was 20-percent of total plastic waste exports this year. The UK is one of the top three countries exporting plastic waste, at about 600-thousand tonnes a year.
