# Two University of Fort Hare researchers, doctor Leocadia Zhou, and doctor Shadreck Muchaku, have garnered international recognition for their latest research. They won the first runner-up Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Green and Sustainable Development in Rwanda. Their research investigated water and sanitation challenges in Nompumelelo Township in Beacon Bay, East London. Zhou and Muchaku’s paper was distinguished for its exceptional societal impact, ranking among the most influential research contributions at the conference.
