# A powerful magnitude-7.7 earthquake has struck eastern Indonesia, killing at least 20 people and injuring several others. The quake triggered dozens of aftershocks and small tsunami waves, with a temporary tsunami warning later lifted. Rescuers in Maumere on Flores Island found 20 bodies, while two people remained trapped under rubble. Around two-thousand residents were evacuated from Nagekeo, near the epicentre, where landslides and damaged communications hampered rescue efforts. Homes, warehouses and government buildings were damaged, while power outages and traffic disruptions were also reported. Rescue operations are continuing.
