# US president Donald Trump has announced a new 25-percent tariff on all imported cars and car parts entering America. The tariffs, set to take effect next week, aim to expand America’s auto manufacturing prowess. The US imported roughly eight-million cars last year, with Mexico as the top foreign supplier of cars, followed by South Korea, Japan, Canada and Germany. Trump says this measure will lead to tremendous growth for the car industry, promising it would spur jobs and investment in the US:
