# National Treasury has identified four-thousand-323 high-risk or suspected ghost workers on the government payroll. The cases involve people whose identities or employment details could not be verified, as well as potentially fictitious or deceased individuals still receiving state salaries. Treasury is consolidating the findings of its investigations with the Department of Public Service and Administration and the Financial Intelligence Centre. The government says it will provide an update on the findings and action taken in next year’s budget.
