# Transnet National Ports Authority has issued a Request for Proposals to appoint a terminal operator for a multi-purpose terminal at Durban’s Maydon Wharf. The 25-year concession involves designing, funding, constructing, operating, maintaining, and transferring a facility to handle fresh produce and compatible break-bulk cargo. Covering approximately 145 hectares with 15 berths, the precinct handles over seven-million tons of cargo annually. The authority’s Nkumbuzi Ben-Mazwi says the project aims to boost port efficiency, cargo volumes, and regional job creation.
