# The South African Photovoltaic Industry Association is anticipating that installations could recover this year. Solar photovoltaic installations fell by more than 50-percent to about one gigawatt in 2024/2025, from 2.4 gigawatt in 2023/2024. The association believes the recovery will be supported primarily by large commercial and industrial projects, as well as utility projects procured under the government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme. It adds that the South African PV market can sustainably add between 1.5 and 2 gigawatts yearly.
