# Skateboarding: American skateboarder Jason Vanporppal is just 25-kilometres away from completing an extraordinary skateboarding journey across Africa. The 26-year-old left Kampala, Uganda, in February, skating through five countries to raise funds for a permanent skatepark in Uganda. Battling illness, rough roads and visa setbacks, Vanporppal continued alone into Paarl, in the Cape Winelands region, where communities have welcomed him as a hero. He is expected to arrive in Cape Town this afternoon , ending the journey with a celebration at the City Bowl Skatepark.
