SARS finalises China’s zero-tariff scheme framework

# The South African Revenue Service has finalised the legal and operational frameworks required to administer China’s temporary zero-tariff scheme for qualifying South African exports. The Asian country announced in February this year that it would implement the zero-tariff policy with African countries with which it has diplomatic ties. SARS Commissioner Johnstone Makhubu says they will begin issuing Rules of Origin certificates from today, allowing exporters to prove origin and claim the tariff preference immediately. He added that not all products exported to China will automatically qualify for zero-tariff treatment.
