Pressure has resulted in SA reducing funding support for new coal assets

# External pressure, rather than a lack of coal resources, is causing South Africa to decline numerous potential projects. This is the view of Trilemma Impact Investments managing director Hulisani Neswiswi. South Africa was the first country to sign the Just Energy Transition Partnership in 2021, aimed at supporting an economy-wide transition away from coal towards clean energy. Neswiswi says this shift in funding for coal projects would support the sustainability goals of the country’s energy sector.
