Plans on track to build a R31.5-billion coal-to-fertiliser project in Mpumalanga

# Blue ammonia and sustainable chemicals producer SUISO says it is committed to land rehabilitation, biodiversity restoration and sustainable practices. Two Chinese engineering companies have made the final round of bidding to build a 31.5-billion-rand coal-to-fertiliser industrial complex in Kriel, Mpumalanga, for SUISO. The plant will sustainably produce 1.5-million tons of nitrogen-based fertilisers a year from coal, while simultaneously supporting the country’s just energy transition goals. SUISO founder Paul Erskine says they will integrate advanced carbon capture technology into the plant.
