# Parliament’s Portfolio Committees on Trade, Industry, and Transport have called on the Department of Transport to ensure transformation targets are prioritised over profit at the Transnet Island View Precinct in Durban. This follows minister Barbara Creecy’s briefing to the committees on her directive for Transnet to finalise 25-year operator agreements by March 2026. The committees stressed that black industry players must have fair access to the precinct, with transformation clauses integrated into all lease negotiations.
