# The City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Centre says 211 refugees were affected by yesterday’s fire off Voortrekker Road, opposite the Maitland cemetery. The marquee tent where the refugees were housed, was destroyed, along with several other structures used as kitchens. Disaster Risk Management’s spokesperson, Sonica Lategan, says the South African Social Security Agency has been informed to assist, while Gift of the Givers helped with immediate humanitarian relief needs last night:
