# Oil prices have surged again following reports that US president Donald Trump is considering extending the blockade of Iranian ports. Brent crude has risen by almost seven-percent to 126 dollars a barrel, which is around two-thousand-129-rand, the highest level since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. According to reports, the US military has prepared plans for a short and powerful wave of strikes on Iran if negotiations remain deadlocked.
