# Transport minister Barbara Creecy has welcomed the signing of a major terminal operator agreement for a liquefied natural gas facility at the Port of Ngqura in the Eastern Cape. Creecy says the project marks a decisive step towards energy security, infrastructure development and economic growth. The agreement authorises the Strategic Fuel Fund to build and operate an LNG regasification facility. The minister says the project will support South Africa’s energy transition, attract investment, create jobs and strengthen industrial development in the Eastern Cape.
