Newly formed Eskom Green will accelerate the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects

# Eskom says it is accelerating the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects and supporting larger power-user customers in achieving their energy transition goals. This is through its newly formed Eskom Green division, which will have six gigawatts of carbon-free electricity available up to 2030. Some ten-billion-rand has been allocated to Eskom Green over the coming five years. The power utility’s group executive for renewables, Rivoningo Mnisi, says Eskom Green will be subjected to the same grid-access rules as independent power producers also vying for limited grid capacity.
