# Motorsport: Veteran driver Marcel Angel has died following a serious incident during a race at Killarney International Raceway in Cape Town yesterday. Motorsport South Africa confirmed the 62-year-old died while competing in Race 1 of the Extreme SuperCars category at the National Extreme Festival. The remainder of Saturday’s racing programme was cancelled. Angel was a long-standing member of the South African motorsport community, with tributes paid by organisers and Motorsport South Africa. The Extreme Festival organisers have asked that his family’s privacy be respected.
