Minister Steenhuisen concerned about the illegal transporting of animals amid the foot-and-mouth outbreak [SOUND]

# Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen says efforts to contain and combat the foot-and-mouth disease in the country are being hindered by people illegally transporting cattle. The minister visited Rysmierbult outside Ventersdorp in the North West yesterday, to oversee a Cattle Vaccination Campaign aimed at combating the spread of the disease. There are about 274 unresolved outbreaks of the disease across five provinces, with KwaZulu-Natal being the epicentre. Steenhuisen says combating the disease requires a collective effort:
