# Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment minister, Dion George, says projects that bolster South Africa’s renewable energy capacity are welcomed and encouraged. This follows the recent launch of the Communities and the Private Renewable Energy Sector: Distributing Social Development Benefits in South Africa. This is a research project investigating how private renewable energy investments in the country contribute to equitable social development. Minister George says the country can develop a resilient, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable energy sector that also supports efforts to drive sustainable economic growth.
