# The US’ recent inflation rates coming in higher than expected, and Brent crude sitting at way over 100-dollar a barrel, will indirectly filter through to South Africa. This is according to KPMG South Africa’s lead economist, Frank Blackmore. He says the persistent conflict in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz will over time put further pressure on the country’s inflation, currently at 4.3-percent:
