# Today marks the eighth Global Recycling Day, raising awareness of the importance of recycling, and encouraging individuals and organisations to take concrete actions to reduce waste. This year’s theme is, Celebrating the power of the Seventh Resource, a term used to describe recycled materials. According to the Global Recycling Foundation, 2.1-billion metric tons of solid waste are produced every year, but only 16-percent is recycled. Recycling is projected to save over a billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030.
