ICJ rules that countries are legally obligated to act on climate change [SOUND]

# The International Court of Justice has ruled that States have a legal duty to act on climate change and that inaction violates human rights. This includes the obligation under the Paris Agreement on climate change to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The court also ruled that developing nations have a right to seek damages for the impacts of climate change. United Nations secretary general, António Guterres has welcomed this judgment:
