GIWUSA is concerned about the EU’s proposed 50% tariffs on steel exports [SOUND]

# The General Industries Workers Union of South Africa says the European Union’s move to slap hefty tariffs on steel and iron imports will be a crushing blow for South Africa’s steel manufacturing industry. The European Commission has proposed 50-percent tariffs on all steel imports in a bid to protect its domestic steel sector. The EU is South Africa’s second-largest steel export destination, worth 20.3-billion-rand last year. GIWUSA president Mametlwe Sebei says the government must act swiftly to protect the domestic market:
