# Funda Nenja is commemorating 16-years of making a difference in empowering children while promoting educational dog training in townships in Mpophomeni, KwaZulu-Natal. The animal welfare charity, which began in 2009 as a dog training class during the school holidays, has grown into an internationally recognised organisation. Co-founder, Heather Somerville, says the organisation now runs as a One Welfare non-profit organisation that promotes animal care, kindness, and community upliftment. She says that the group continues transforming lives for both human and canine.
