# Namibia’s foot-and-mouth disease outbreak could cost the country’s economy about 1.8-billion-rand this year and next year. According to Simonis Storm Research, growth could slow to around two-percent this year, with the nationwide livestock movement ban the key factor. About 1.5-billion-rand in exports could be lost this year, while around 12-thousand job years could be affected. The research indicates premium beef exports to the European Union, Britain and Norway are particularly vulnerable.
