# The Eastern Cape Liquor Board is urging learners to avoid alcohol-fuelled “Pens Down” parties as they prepare for end-of-year examinations. The board’s CEO Nombuyiselo Makala says young people should celebrate their achievements responsibly and return home safely. The Board is calling on parents, schools and communities to help prevent underage drinking and unsafe gatherings. Liquor traders are reminded that supplying alcohol to minors is illegal. She says that the board and SAPS will continue monitoring liquor outlets and responding to reports of illegal activities.
