# Trade, Industry and Competition deputy minister John Steenhuisen has outlined the government’s strategy focused on diversification, decarbonisation and digitalisation to boost competitiveness, create jobs and expand exports. Addressing the Manufacturing Indaba in Sandton, Johannesburg, Steenhuisen said the plan focuses on increasing investment, supporting local production, adopting new technology and expanding trade across Africa. He added the sector supports more than 1.6-million direct jobs:
