# The Department of Electricity and Energy says it is aiming to facilitate the creation of 200-thousand new energy sector jobs aligned to the country’s just energy transition. This is part of its priorities for the coming five years. The department says it wants to increase the proportion of electricity generated by independent power producers from 14-percent currently to 40-percent, and shepherd in 500-thousand tons of green-hydrogen capacity. It adds that it also wants to increase the installed base of renewables from 11-gigawatts currently to 33-gigawatts by 2030.
