# The DA says it welcomes the ongoing growth in the agricultural sector’s contributions to the gross domestic product under the stewardship of minister John Steenhuisen. In the second quarter of this year, the sector grew by 2.5-percent, following a revised 18.6-percent rise in the first quarter. This was primarily due to increased economic activity reported for horticulture and animal products. The DA’s Willie Aucamp says the sector has demonstrated that it holds immense untapped potential to drive inclusive economic growth:
