# The DA has announced that it will launch its 2026 local government election manifesto in Johannesburg on 8 August. According to the party, the city was chosen because the party believes poor governance has left Johannesburg in decline and that voters have an opportunity to change this at the ballot box on 4 November. The DA’s Ashor Sarupen says the party leader Geordin Hill-Lewis will outline plans and priorities for local government:
