Cape Town’s new water scheme recommended as public-private partnership

# Cape Town’s Faure New Water Scheme could be rolled out as a public-private partnership. A completed feasibility study recommends the public-private partnership model due to the project’s complexity. The scheme will turn treated wastewater into 70-million litres of drinking water daily. It’s part of the city’s plan to increase supply by 300-million litres a day by 2030. The study found the public-private partnership model affordable, with Cape Town retaining ownership and regulatory responsibility. Public comment closes on 21 August.
