# South Africa’s solar technology company 7SecondSolar, says increasing the role of digital tools in scaling solar energy is imperative. Globally, five-thousand-500-gigawatts of renewable energy is forecasted to be added by 2030, with 80-percent being solar. The company recently won the 2025 Smarter E Europe Award in the photovoltaics category for its computational design software solution AutoPV. 7SecondSolar CEO Paul Nel says there is also a need to shift how utility-scale solar projects are being developed.
