# Botswana government officials are set to meet with South Africa’s Electricity Ministry this week after an increase in power-import costs. According to reports, the rise in power import costs has exacerbated Botswana’s ongoing electricity crisis. Breakdowns at the Morupule B plant have led to frequent blackouts, while tariffs from Eskom have increased. Botswana’s debt to Eskom has reached 3.4-billion-rand. Botswana is also preparing a tender for 1.5-GiggaWatt of renewable energy.
