# The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is hosting the 2026 Biodiversity Research and Evidence Indaba in Boksburg, Gauteng. The three-day gathering brings together scientists, policymakers, conservationists, civil society and indigenous knowledge holders to strengthen evidence-based environmental decision-making. Discussions focus on biodiversity research gaps, ecosystem restoration, species conservation, climate resilience, biological invasions and the biodiversity economy. The outcomes will help update South Africa’s National Biodiversity Research and Evidence Strategy and its implementation plan.
