# The ANC has described South Africa’s ambassador to France, Nathi Mthethwa, as a committed cadre of the liberation struggle and a dedicated servant of the people. Mthethwa, a former cabinet member and former ANC national executive committee member, having previously served as minister of Police and minister of Arts and Culture, died at a hotel in Paris. ANC national spokesperson, Mahlengi Bhengu, says Mthethwa’s life was one of both struggle and service:
